| Job Description: |
The brand new, purpose built 18 bed Intensive Care Unit in the Regional Hospital has opened and we need innovative, committed, forward-thinking registered nurses with post-graduate experience in Intensive Care to join our team.
Working 12 hour shifts, we can offer you:
work that encompasses all specialties including cardio-thoracic, neurosurgery and paediatrics

ergonomically designed large bed spaces equipped with mechanical full range hoists
a new unit classroom for ongoing education
the opportunity to train as a flight nurse within the busiest flight retrieval service in New Zealand.
We have a strong commitment to excellence in patient care and many opportunities for our nurses to further their education and be part of a committed and innovative team. The Service funds entry level and specialist advanced critical care courses, which are accredited at Masters Degree level.
A desire to develop in the area of intensive care nursing.

resources to meet the individual needs of patients and their families.
Demonstrates mastery of clinical skills detailed below. Is developing confidence
in assuming leadership responsibilities
• Advocate for the patients, their families and nursing within the specialty
practice area.
• Provide speciality nursing care, which reflects current nursing knowledge,
research and understanding.
• Be working towards ACLS certification.
• Completes Epidural certification.
• Contribute to the effective functioning of the nursing/multidisciplinary team in
ICU.
• Access knowledge of senior/experienced staff when confronted with situations
that exceed own level of knowledge and clinical skill.
• Act as a preceptor of new staff and student nurses.
• Works with senior nursing team to develop and maintain personal
professional development portfolio.
• Be familiar with practice competencies integral with employment in ICU. This
will include the following:-
- Renal therapy
- Pacemakers
- High Dependency Paediatrics
- Ventilation
- Orthopaedics
- Trauma
- Poisonings
- Medications
- Neurology
- Gastrointestinal
